Lawsuit Filed – Donations Still Needed!
Dear Fellow Neighbor & Opponent of the Hwy 276 Proposed Concrete Crusher,
Friends of Union Valley LLC officially filed a lawsuit against the TCEQ on June 28, 2024 for issuing Dry Creek Materials an air permit to Crush Concrete in Union Valley. You can view the official filing of the lawsuit and the citation showing that the TCEQ was served on the in the PDFs below. It’s a quick and interesting read so don’t miss it. We have always known this is the time we have the greatest chance to succeed! The Attorney General has a few weeks to respond on behalf of the TCEQ.
THANK YOU to many of you who have contributed generously with your time and finances – some of you have contributed more than once! We are so grateful for such a united community. Over 130 people have contributed over $62,000 in the last 7 months and we anticipate needing $38,000 more to complete this phase. No donation is too small or too large and have ranged from $20 – $3,000 each. One great idea that we heard was if all 500+ people who took the time to attend the March 21, 2024, public meeting on a dark, stormy night would now donate $100 each – that would do it! Another way to fund this phase is $38,000 divided by 130 is $292 each. A third way is if 70 new neighbors join the 130 existing contributors that would mean 200 people each donate $190 then we will meet our goal. We are happy to take pledges if you can’t do it right now, but want to plan for it in the next 30-60 days that will be so helpful. For full transparency, we have personally donated $16,000 and countless hours. If we all do a little to share the load, no one has to do it all.
The Friends of Union Valley LLC is filed with the State of Texas for the sole purpose of opposing the Highway 276 Concrete Crusher and all donations received will be used for this purpose only. The three ways to contribute are:

We believe that we will ultimately prevail and we want as many of you as possible to have the privilege of contributing to save our community. We are working with our elected officials to help get laws changed in the January 2025 Legislative Session as well. Please pray about what you can donate to help us fund this important lawsuit to preserve life as we know it in Union Valley – God Bless You All & Many Thanks!

TCEQ Comment Period Extended & Meeting Date Set
Good news! We were just informed that there WILL BE a Public Meeting with the TCEQ on March 21st, at 7PM at the Quinlan Ford High School Auditorium. Public written comments about this application may be submitted at any time during the public comment period. The public comment period NOW ends on March 21, 2024, at the end of the informational meeting. Please mark your calendar and plan to attend. It’s important that our community show of force become part of the “comment” section!
Attorney Hired!
THE FRIENDS OF UNION VALLEY have hired an environmental attorney that has had success fighting these sort of plants in Texas.
This is not cheap. We ask that you read how you can help by making donations to pay for the attorney AND an environmental specialist. The HOA of Union Valley Ranch has paid for the retainer, and Dan and Lisa Washington are heading up the fund raising campaign. Considering that your home values could drop as much as 20% if this plant and its noise and pollution and truck traffic is allowed, doesn’t a nice donation to fight this battle make sense? We challenge everyone to donate as much as your family is comfortable with…don’t delay….it’s cold outside and now is the perfect time to sit in front of your fire with your family and donate! Thank you for all of your efforts. We will be putting up a new billboard in the next ten days on 276 so be on the lookout, and thank you for taking the time to read this lengthy post.
HOW TO DONATE:
Three ways for people to contribute to the Friends of Union Valley LLC to Crush the Crusher! We are hoping to start with finding 200 people to each donate $1,000. Since we have 600 opposing comments to TCEQ we believe this is a very reasonable first goal. We welcome donations of any amount and will keep track of expenses to share with all who contribute.
- Venmo: @Lisa-Washington-9
- Anyone can send a Zelle payment to Lisa Washington 972-342-6557 or lisa@activecomputers.com
- We are happy to accept checks made payable to: Friends of Union Valley LLC
- Mail to: 3977 County Road 2546 Quinlan, TX 75474
We will email anyone a receipt for their donation and put them on the email list as well!
Comments Deadline Extended:
We have definitely made progress! The public comments have been pushed back to begin Tuesday, January 16th in coordination with Dry Mix FINALLY supposedly running an official notice in The Greenville Herald Banner newspaper. They were supposed to do this in late November, thus the urgency of TAKING ACTION before December 30th. SO… we now have an additional 30 days for everyone to post comments with primarily The TECQ. Please go to the TAKE ACTION tab and follow the steps if you haven’t already!
While you are on the page also check out the great drone video posted below to see how close the proposed crushed will be to many many homes!

December 13, 2023 message from Hunt County Commissioner, Precinct Two:
“Thank you for contacting Hunt County about the “Permanent Rock and Concrete Crusher” application – TCEQ#174388 – seeking approval for a location at 4196 Highway 276 in the Quinlan area.
Yesterday 12/12/2023 in Commissioners Court, the Commissioners instructed the County Civil Attorney to research the County’s ability to legally oppose that proposed permit, and what actions the County may take during the TCEQ’s public comment period. He will be making a presentation to the Court about that at the next regular meeting on Wednesday, December 27. If you would like to attend that meeting, it is open to the public. It starts at 10:00 am in the Auxiliary Courtroom located at 2700 Johnson Street Greenville, Texas 75401. You can also stream the meeting by following the “Commissioners Court Live Stream” hyperlink on the County’s website: huntcounty.net.
Also, if you would like to publicly speak during the meeting you may do so by attending the meeting in person and filling out a Citizen’s Comment card. The Commissioners will then call you up to speak for up to 3 minutes during the Citizens to be Heard agenda item at the beginning of the meeting. If you are unable to attend or will be attending remotely, you may also send an email with comments that will be read aloud to the Court (for up to three minutes) by sending an email to the following address before Court begins: PublicComments@huntcounty.net.”
